Euphoria: Not just a Killing Joke song

I’m watching Euphoria on HBO max. As I hit the end of season one, I keep coming back to a part of a Jello Biafra spoken word album from the late 1990s or early 2000s. He was talking about how parents overmedicate their children to avoid dealing with them.

To quote or paraphrase, “I fear that today’s ritalin kids are tomorrows speed freaks and junkies.”

Watching those first episodes, it feels spot on. Now, I wonder what will happen to children subjected not just to meds, but their parents putting them on tik tok and doing who knows what crap for likes and sponsorships.
